How it differs from Dermal Rollers?
Automated micro-needling devices move in a vertical direction for better precision when treating the skin. Manual needle rollers do not create a precise vertical action and many of these rollers are made from inferior metals which are not smooth and it is impossible to sterilize them at home. The lack of precision and sterilization issues can contribute to
inconsistent effects to the skin, plus the risk of infection when the skin is not antiseptically cleansed.
How it differs from Lasers?
Microneedling breaks up pigment mechanically instead of with light (heat) and remodels the collagen without heat. Removing heat from the equation makes for a safer, more comfortable treatment with a very
low complication rate. No heat also equals less downtime! Most patients are red for 24 hours or less.
That advantage means you can get the procedure performed on a Friday and be back to normal for work on Monday.
Do I need to purchase an FDA approved device:
You do not need to. This is a preference, in my opinion since I've worked with FDA and devices that have been approved and those that have not is that a company will just pay more to get FDA approval. Most automatic devices are similar. The key is to use a device with educational support to back it, great quality tips, and affordable. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars on a device because of brand recognition. Clients are looking for the treatment and experience not the name of the device.

Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a safe, simple, and effective treatment for exfoliating the skin. (workshops & certifications available)
If your clients complain of dull or dry skin then this is a perfect choice. It’s also great for improving uneven skin tone, mild acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles. Dermaplaning also removes fine vellus hairs AKA “peach fuzz” or baby fine hairs on your face. It is a highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. It requires the use of a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently "shave" the skin's surface, removing the top-most layer of dead skin along with fine.
And because vellus hairs (especially blond hairs) don’t respond well to laser hair removal, dermaplaning is a safe and gentle way to remove these hairs, leaving your skin feeling baby-soft, smooth, and more even-toned.
There is no downtime associated with dermaplaning and the procedure can be done as often as every two weeks. And the baby hairs that are removed do not grow back any thicker or faster, as many fear can happen with traditional shaving. *
The procedure can be performed monthly, in less than thirty minutes, with no downtime post-treatment. Dermaplaning is only performed on the face; however, it is not meant to be used to shape eyebrows, which are made up of "terminal" (not vellus) hairs. The nose is also avoided. Estheticians, nurses or doctors may perform the treatment, depending on state regulations.
Dermaplaning is especially effective on those with dry or rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone.
